A Guide To Dyson Vacuums
Dyson vacuums come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, so it’s important to do your research before you run out and buy the first one that you see. Since there can be some pretty substantial difference between one Dyson and another, we decided to write a basic guide that will help you choose which one is best for you. Before we begin with sorting out the different features among the vacuums, we’ve decided to give you a little bit of a primer on what makes these vacuums so special.
Dyson’s Basic Design
Dyson vacuum cleaners are based on a bit of technology that’s a bit different than other types of cleaners. They use a bagless, cyclone technology that allows the vacuum to run without clogging. They accomplish this by spinning the incoming air, dirt, and dust like a cyclone. This creates a centrifugal force that keeps the air moving through the vacuum but flings the dirt and dust into the appropriate reservoir. Although this system isn’t perfect, it does do a pretty good job at accomplishing its task.
Another feature that most Dysons have is the large central ball. This ball makes the vacuum more maneuverable than traditional vacuum cleaners. Of course, this feature isn’t found on handheld models because they are used in a way that’s more like traditional handheld vacuums.
Which Dyson Is The Best?
Basically, Dyson vacuums come in one of six different designs. There are the stand-up versions, the animal versions, the cylinder models, the cordless stick models, the robotic models and the handheld models. Although there are some basic similarities between each of these models, there are some notable differences between them as well. That’s why we’ve decided to dig down into them and find out what makes each model stand out from the rest.
Dyson Multi-floor Vs. Dyson Animal Vacuums
Dyson multi-floor models work really well, but homeowners with pets may want to try out the Dyson Animal Vacuum Series. This series is pretty much the same as the multi-floor models but they come with a special attachment brush that does a great job of picking up pet hair off of upholstery. And this attachment and hose releases from the machine smoothly, so it can be quickly pressed into service.
Cordless Stick Models Vs. Dyson Multi-Floor Vacuums
Both the Dyson cordless stick vacuums and the multi-floor vacuums work well, but obviously, the multi-floor models are more powerful. That’s because they have the benefit of being plugged in, which also means that they can be run a virtually unlimited amount of time in one session. Sure, the stick vacuums use a Lithium-ion battery, but it’s only so long before it has to be recharged.
However, having said that, stick vacuums are useful under some circumstances. They’re not only less expensive than the full-size models, but they’re also good for small areas such as dorm rooms, small apartments or other small areas. If you live in a small area, there’s no need to invest in a full-size vacuum when one of these Dyson stick vacuums work quite well.
The Difference Between Cordless Models
You’ve probably seen from the above vacuum list that there are different Dyson models among the cordless units. There’s a Dyson V6, Dyson V7, Dyson V8, and a Dyson V10. Although there are a few differences between the models, the differences aren’t that great. For example, the V8 models tend to run approximately 30-minutes longer than the V7 models and come with a few more accessories. The V10 has the largest run time of any of the other models and comes with a nice assortment of accessories as well. Be sure to check each individual model to see estimated run time and the accessories it comes with to make sure that the model in question is a good fit for your household.
What About The Dyson Robotic Vacuums?
The one Dyson model that we haven’t talked about yet is the Dyson Robotic Vacuums and there’s a good reason why we haven’t discussed them yet. For one, we haven’t really had the opportunity to extensively test them and they’re still kind of new, so the jury is still out on whether they’re effective or not. In the future, we plan on testing these models in great detail, but until we have we fully tested them we can’t discuss their effectiveness. Hopefully, we’re get the opportunity to check out these models a little bit closer and see what they’re capable of doing.
